Empowering Columbus Youth:

Global Youth Protection and Development is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering vulnerable youth and families in the Columbus, Ohio area. Our mission is to provide critical services that help stabilize the lives of young people, so they may grow and reach their full potential in a safe, welcoming environment.

  • Case Management: Help accessing housing, healthcare, education, and other social services.
  • Counseling: Support for issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse.
  • After School Center: Tutoring, mentoring, supervised activities, and personal development workshops.
  • Sports Programs: Basketball, soccer, and other team sports that build discipline and confidence.
  • Outreach Initiatives: Credible messengers directly engage with victims and perpetrators to prevent violence.
  • Support Services: Resources, skills training, and counseling for domestic violence survivors.
  • Community Collaboration: Projects and events that bring together stakeholders to address issues affecting youth.

Organization Background

Who We Are

GYPD is a non-profit organization based in Columbus that serves vulnerable Somali youth and families. It was founded in 2017 to address the increasing crime and violence in the area. GYPD started with outreach efforts and has now expanded to offer comprehensive empowerment programming. The organization provides mentoring, counseling, sports, and community collaboration initiatives to uplift underserved youth and families. The organization is run by dedicated staff and volunteers and receives funding from donors.
